Sydney: This is Must-Know Dutch Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 1. In this lesson you'll learn expressions about law enforcement.
Sydney: These expressions might be relevant if you ever come into contact with law enforcement. Be sure never to use these near police officers though!
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Sydney: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Jacob: smeris

Jacob: een nachtje in de bajes zitten

Sydney: Jacob, what's our first expression?
Jacob: smeris
Sydney: literally meaning "cop." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "police officer."

Sydney: Use this slang expression when you feel spiteful towards a police officer, or law enforcement in general. Be careful when you use this word, the police might feel offended.
